The Challenge
When Dave Barton, the founder of content creation agency (and previous client) tbc/wtf, wanted to launch a sister agency — thermidor< — to focus exclusive on the burgeoning cannabis sector he turned to Khula for a second time, to help him create a new brand identity and online presence.
However, the thermidor< brand image had to be unique enough to stand alone, reflect the sector focus in a subtle way, and needed to include elements of the original agency brand in some way.
The Outcome
From a brand identity perspective, given the company name ‘thermidor<’ Khula designed a core lobster graphic as a playful element — rendering it in a light green shade to represent the cannabis industry focus.
They also included two smaller yellow elements to complement the green and, to draw attention to the brand name itself, Khula used the exact same font as the original ‘tbc/wtf’ logo, but used black to make it stand out. Then for the website, The first step was to create standout copy to match the bold branding – which thermidor< handled themselves.
Khula also put together some creative complementary features to make the new website shine, developing numerous subtle-yet-powerful features like a MailChimp integration, moving visual elements, and an integrated map showing cannabis’ legal status throughout the world — fun, yet functional elements to play to the brand’s visual cues and enhance the user experience.
Leveling Up Looks Like This
"Top marks from me for Jamie and the Khula crew! They crafted a standout brand identity for my agency, before applying it to a user-friendly, well-designed, awesome new website that's now ripe for lead generation! The Khula team understands the back-end, front-end, and everything in between. They also make sure that you know *exactly* what they're doing, what you'll be getting, and how to use everything yourself afterwards. Defo chat to these guys if you need a brand refresh or an online overhaul!"
